At Chenies, we are fortunate to offer our children the unique opportunity to experience Forest School within our beautiful and expansive grounds. Our Forest School programme is expertly run by Wild Kites, an organisation dedicated to fostering a love for nature and outdoor learning.
Wild Kites’ small-group Forest School sessions are designed to boost confidence, wellbeing, and resilience through child-centred play and exploration. During these sessions, students are encouraged to observe and identify signs of wildlife, learn to use various tools for nature craft projects, and simply enjoy the freedom of being outdoors. These activities not only enhance their understanding of the natural world but also promote physical and mental health.
The sessions are led by Jemma Jackson, an experienced and DBS-checked Forest School Leader. Jemma brings a wealth of knowledge and a nurturing approach to each session, ensuring that every child feels supported and valued. Wild Kites adheres to the core principles of the Forest School ethos, which emphasise giving children the time and space they need to play, take supported risks, and develop essential self-esteem and social skills in a woodland setting.
Our Forest School sessions take place every Monday from 1-3pm, with different classes taking turns each term to participate. This rotation ensures that all students have the chance to benefit from this enriching experience throughout the school year.
We believe that our Forest School programme is a vital part of our educational offering, providing children with invaluable experiences that contribute to their overall development and wellbeing.
