Welcome to Chenies School
Dear Parents,
Chenies School is a small village school situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Chenies between Chorleywood and Little Chalfont. It was originally founded by the Duchess of Bedford in 1846. The School building has retained much of its original Victorian character and provides a unique and special atmosphere for the children to learn in.
The fact that there are just 105 children on roll, from the ages of 4 to 11 means that we can offer a particularly caring family atmosphere. All of our children benefit from interacting with children throughout the school of different ages.
We are fortunate to have very attractive grounds which includes two playgrounds, a school field, a garden and a wildlife area; all of which are used frequently and enjoyed by the children. Providing children with opportunities to learn outside of the classroom is something which is important to us.
As a learning community we are extremely proud of our school and its achievements. We believe we provide children with a broad education which enables them to leave at the end of Year 6 having made good progress from their starting points and feeling proud of all that they have achieved. We want our children to develop their natural curiosity and a thirst for learning during their time with us, as well as a breadth of skills for their future schooling and beyond.
We pride ourselves on having high expectations and believe this is the key to a successful school. We want to build on the school’s successes, continue to develop the sense of family spirit throughout the school and ensure that children are known and treated as individuals. Each child’s happiness and well-being is of the utmost importance to us.
Most importantly we aim to ensure that our children develop a love of learning through the provision of a broad and balanced curriculum, the confidence to set themselves challenging targets and fulfil their potential, and the social skills necessary to enable them to develop caring relationships and make a positive contribution to society, both now and in the future.
I would be pleased to show you around the school and answer any questions you may have. If you would like to visit please contact the school office to make an appointment.
