Welcome to the Local Governing Body at Chenies School

Welcome to the Local Governing Body at Chenies School

The role of the Governing Body is to act as a critical friend to the school and to ensure that it carries out all of its statutory responsibilities.  Governors work collaboratively and play a vital role in the support and success of Chenies, ensuring it is a safe and welcoming educational establishment. The Governing Body is responsible for overseeing the school budget, for noting and adopting Trust policies and approving local policies and, along with the Headteacher, for setting the strategic direction of the school.

Since December 2023 Chenies School has been a valued member of the Oxford Diocesan Bucks School Trust (ODBST) and all Governors are appointed by the ODBST Trustees.  Governors are made up from volunteers within the local community as well as staff and parents, and are elected on to the Governing Body for a period of four years. After this time they can stand for re-election if they so choose.  There are currently 3 different types of Governors at Chenies which include; Skills Governors, Parent Governors and Staff Governors.  The Governing Body holds 6 meetings in each academic year, one each half term, and the team of Governors is currently 10 in total plus the Headteacher.

If you think you might be interested in becoming a Governor at Chenies School, please contact the Chair of Governors via the school office who will be able to give you more information.  As a new Governor you will be offered regular training opportunities to carry out your role effectively.  Previous experience is not necessary but an interest in young children’s education and a desire to see Chenies School be the best it can be are attributes we seek. If interested in joining our Local Governing Body please contact the school office at office@chenies.bucks.sch.uk
