Computing
At Chenies we recognise that computing is quickly becoming a vital life-skill, and we want to enable our children to embrace and utilise new technology, in order to equip them with the skills that they will need to flourish in an increasingly STEM-orientated working environment. By allowing children to gain confidence and enjoyment from their computing activities, the children will develop resilience, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, and will be able to use technology in order to support learning across the entire curriculum. As with every aspect of the school, Chenies considers the safety of our pupils to be paramount, and e-safety will be a focus of our computer curriculum, ensuring that the children understand how to use computers responsibly and to protect themselves online.
Computing plays an important role in enhancing the children’s learning across all subjects. The children are taught a range of computing skills and are introduced to graphics, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia presentations and programming. Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard that is used daily to enhance teaching and learning.
The School has a range of technology, including laptops and iPads, to enable us to deliver the computing curriculum. All computers are connected to the internet and we teach children to search and locate information in a safe and efficient manner.
