Silver Eco Award

2nd February 2014

We are delighted to inform you we have finally managed to move from the Bronze Eco-school status and achieve an Eco-schools Silver award.

Here are some of the things that supported us in achieving this change of status for the school:-

  • Regular meetings
  • Recycling, composting, donating clothes for pre-loved
  • Keeping Chenies School tidy
  • Looking after the school grounds
  • Picking up litter
  • Planting vegetables, flowers and trees
  • Trying to reduce energy and water consumption - turning electricity and water off if not needed
  • Looking at transport to and from school
  • 'One way' parent traffic route through the village
  • Walk to school week
  • Reminding children about healthy lunch boxes
  • Writing to pen pals in the UK and other countries
  • Visiting Shortenills Environmental centre and other school visits
  • Learning about the world

So we need to say a very big thank you to everyone across the whole of the school community that have helped in achieving this Silver award and we hope to continue to keep Chenies an excellent Eco friendly school.
